Buko Sunday @ the Beach

We all love to drink buko (young coconut) juice and savour the freshness of its meat. The buko is becoming part of our Sunday tradition. There's a place which sells buko and the place is fronting the beach. The buko vendors provide cottages for their patrons and we stay there for two hours or more. There are Sundays when we bring our food and stay there for lunch. It's not expensive yet healthy.

Yummy Lechon

Note: I don't know who put that knife and fork on the lechon, I wasn't aware of it when I took the photo. LOL
Lechon is an all-time Pinoy favorite. It always takes the "centerstage" in any banquet. A gathering is not complete without lechon. Once the lechon is served on the table, the cholesterol, LDL, HDL, highblood, diabetes, arthritis, and all other illnesses are forgotten. This is the most-tempting food that even those who are prohibited (by their doctors ) from eating anything oily or fatty always get a bite. Yummy. . . . Yummmyyyyyyyyyy lechon!

Read The Expiration Dates

See these two photos?
They are picture-perfect reminder for me to be cautious and concious of reading the the expiration dates before buying and consuming any processed food. The expiration dates of two biscuits - the strawberry and the opened one - were not visible as it was erased. I bought these biscuits from a store which sells local and imported goods on exactly the same date today last year.

TREATING ME OUT

I am a kind of person who has an enthusiasm to make an extra effort to taste something new. Trying something new go hand in hand with my being adventurous, and it doesn’t bother me even if there is a need to exploit my taste buds – of course, safety precautions are always at the forefront even before my salivary glands start to function, or to have my mental capacity tested and be in great danger of being buried to shameful ground. Everytime a chance of traveling to other places comes my way, be it within the region or somewhere in the hinterlands, what comes first on my itinerary is always to look for dining spots which are totally new and different from the fast-food type restaurants which I usually frequent. I am more smitten to romance with eating places that are ready to offer exotic carte du jour – not erotic menus, and a place which can satisfy my lust for fresh, juicy, and delicious foods. I look for sumptuous dishes as a special treat to my non finicky palate. My search for good food often lead me dine-in at some unpopular restaurants that more often than not serve not satiable and poor tasting foods. My desire to try new tastes usually result in eating poor tasting foods. That’s because, my choice of food is usually relied on those artfully and beautifully presented foods in the menu card which is part of the restaurant’s good marketing strategies – a process that lets the company concentrate its limited resources on the greatest opportunities to increase sales and achieve a sustainable advantage. A good marketing strategy is supposedly centered on the company’s overarching mission statement, that is, to focus around on key concept of full customer satisfaction. A marketing strategy becomes more effective when it is an integral component of corporate strategy, defining how the company will successfully engage customers, prospects, and competitors in the market arena. It is partially derived from broader corporate strategies, corporate missions, and corporate goals. Admittedly, good marketing strategy can me dine at the lousiest restaurant and can make eat the worst tasting food. That’s probably how I directly respond to their various strands of dynamic and interactive marketing strategies – be it advertising, internet marketing, promotions, public relations or direct marketing. It doesn’t mean though that having been lured to waste money for lousy foods in terrible restaurants for one time will make me go back to those places again - that will be plain stupidity on my part perhaps if I will do it for the second or third time. I don’t understand why many restaurant owners focus mainly in good marketing as a way of increasing their revenue and sales when there are other and better ways to attract and lure more customers. Why not they think well of using series of marketing strategies and at the same time offer good products and best services that will surely establish repeat customers, and in the end weaken their market competitors.

Dieting or Just Joking

The thought of burning some excess calories from my somewhat overweight body led me to do some exercise early this morning. My husband wondered why I woke up early when in fact I'm a late riser. When I did some stretching, bending and jogging, my husband wondered why I was having some exercise. He even laughed when I said I would eat bread and fruits for breakfast only for breakfast, and which I actually did. For lunch I eliminated rice - and had spaghetti instead - from my plate hoping to lose some unwanted pounds. Wait, I am still not sure if I would go on with this dieting craziness of mine. Just wait for my next blogs if I could continue dieting.

YUMMY YELLOW CORN

I bought these very delicious yellow corn from an elderly woman who came from a remote barrio in our region. I learned from her that it's his husband who plant these hybrid corns while she and her children do the vending. It was the best tasting yellow corn I have ever eaten. So sweet. . . So yummy. . . So yellow.

Fresh cucumber Salad

This fresh cucumber salad is what I have eaten today for dinner. I wasn’t in the mood to eat and cook meat or fish because my husband isn’t home yet for he attending a conference for a week and I got lazy preparing food for me. I bought chicken and rice for my little girl late this afternoon so I didn’t bother to cook at all. I personally prepared this salad which is very simple to make yet healthy, delicious and inexpensive. I simply put together the sliced cucumber (take note, no need to peel it), tomato, mangoes and a little cooked ham to add taste. Then I sprinkled a little iodized salt and squeezed some lemon juice. That’s it! Yummy . . . .

My Pizza Bread

Here's what I usually do with my days old bread. I make it as a pizza bread. Simply spread some catsup or pasta sauce on the bread, here I used sliced bread, and garnish it with hotdog, cooked ham, egg, onions, bell peppers, pineapples or whatever is available inside the refrigerator. Then put some cheese for some added taste. Then heat it in an oven toaster or a microwave oven. Alas, your leftover bread will be given a new look and taste. Try it.
