Counting numbers in six languages

It is amazing that my five-year old daughter can count numbers in six languages. That includes English, Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish. She can count up to thousands in English; hundreds in Chinese, Japanese and Filipino; and tens in French and Spanish. She wants to learn three more languages for she is aiming to learn ten languages. The Rides

The Carousel ride was a good experience for my daughter. She imagined herself as Cinderella going to the ball. I was the Fairygod mother. . . Daddy was the Prince waiting for my Cinderella . . . The Ferries Wheel was amazing. Too bad for me, I have fear of heights. It was a scary ride for me, but not for my daughter. Hey, take a look, we're at the top.

8th Wedding Anniversary

Today is our 8th Wedding Anniversary. My husband and I are just celebrating it via Skype. Yah, through the internet, the so-called Virtual Celebration! We are thousand of miles apart now, he is in Japan while I am in the Philippines. It is good that our WI-FI connection is as fast a bullet train and we can be connected to each other in just one click. Talking for hours in the internet is much better than talking through the phone. At least, with Skype, we see each other. We will be having a dinner in a little while but we will have different food and drink. Hahaha, what a good way to celebrate our wedding anniversary even if we are distance apart. It's my birthday today

It's my 38th birthday today. The cake in the picture isn't my birthday cake. It was the birthday cake of my daughter who had her 3th birthday last December 11, 2008. For the past many years, I always had parties ( small or big depending on who came)during my birthday but this year is quite different. I just had a lunch date with my husband and will have a simple dinner with my family at home. Happy birthday to me!

I have been collecting these pens for over a decade now. I am not so fond of writing using pens but I like keeping them espcially that most of these pens were given by some special people - although some became insignificant after awhile (hehehe). I like to have many pens even if they are just kept in my drawer.

Biden vs. Palin

I may not take part in the voting process during the U.S. elections but I am one of the million, if not billions, of people all over the world who never fails to get the updates of the U.S. Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections. The first and only vice presidential debate debate was an interesting one. Sen. Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin traded punches over the U.S. weakening economy and the much controversial Iraq. Biden repeatedly linked Sen. John McCain to President Bush, while Palin painted Sen. Barack Obama as "dangerous" on foreign policy. These and more about this debate in CNN.com.

They are picture-perfect reminder for me to be cautious and concious of reading the the expiration dates before buying and consuming any processed food. The expiration dates of two biscuits - the strawberry and the opened one - were not visible as it was erased. I bought these biscuits from a store which sells local and imported goods on exactly the same date today last year.

Putting Icing On the Cake

September 20 was my younger sister’s 32nd birthday. There was an instant celebrated attended by people closest to her, as in closest by physical distance and geneological distance, which included her husband, my older sister and her husband, nieces and nephew, our helper, my daughter and me. As early as the first week of September, my younger sister had already informed everyone – her co-workers in the hospital, friends, relatives and us – that she will not spend a single peso for her birthday as she is saving much money for other more important expenses. Her past birthdays had bashful celebrations that any one close to her

Since her birthday fell on an off-duty Saturday, she decided to simply hear mass together with her husband, be together at home and watch movies. But when she arrived home after hearing the mass, she was surprised to see her nieces and nephew waiting for her. They greeted her with a birthday song and handed her birthday cards which they each made. My nephew even made a garland – the vanda orchids from her mother’s garden were picked - especially for her. The surprises of her nephew and nieces made her decide to make an instaneous birthday celebrated. She bought a very ordinary looking chocolate cake which was the only available cake in the bakeshop, lechon manok, cooked some spaghetti, marshmallows and some bread. It was actually more of a treat to the kids than a birthday celebration of my sister. To improve the taste of the cake and to give it some appealing look, I made some icing using whatever available ingredients I found inside the refrigerator - butter, evaporated milk and white sugar, and chocolate candies. It was a very funny and exciting thing to do espcially that I had did it all by hand, I had never used an electric beater to beat the butter! Hahaha . . .Look at the result . . . Wait, the "Happy Birthday" was used during my neice's birthday in April and look at the flowers, they're all are real orchids. . . . Anyway, it was fun putting that icing on the cake.

Busy Rat

I was quite busy the past few days that I even had no time to visit this site. I was always on the rush . . . everything were done in haste I suppose. It was a gruelling week last week. . . Oh, at least I have time for myself now. . . My free time is always spent with this blogsite. .This is comfort zone, I love to scribble on anything here. . .

My Nokia E90

I am using right now my Nokia E90 communicator and I am just experimenting if I can make a post using a mobile phone. I cannot use my computer now. The Windows program of my laptop went wrong after I uninstalled my Kaspersky Anti Virus. My other laptop broke down too. Gosh, things are not good these days. It makes me very sad.

I'm Back

My three-day Manila visit is over and I'm glad to be home safe and sound. The trip wasn't as good as I have expected. In fact, it was the worst travel so far, compared to all my previous travels. With very limited time, most of it were put to waste waiting for unimportant people who wanted and felt very important. It was a totally disappointing travel. My daughter never had the chance to see her favorite toys and rides. It was just a waste of time and money.

We're Leaving For Manila

My daughter and I will be leaving for Manila, the capital of the Philippines, this afternoon. It will be the first airplane ride for my two-year old daughter whose excitement is seen vividly in her innocent tiny face. We will be actually accompanying my mother-in-law for her follow-up check in one of the hospitals in Manila – she was diagnosed previously with cancer of the uterus by one of the doctors in our place and later, she had an operation in Manila. We have lots of reasons to be excited in this travel aside from the fact that there will be many ‘firsts’ for my daughter. First, we are hoping and will be keeping our fingers crossed for my mother in law’s full recuperation of her illness. Second, I am thrilled to see the reaction of my daughter when she will see lots of toys and fun rides. Third, since this is travel is a long overdue vacation for me, I am excited to have fun shopping. Thanks to my husband who sponsored this travel. We love you and we will miss you daddy!

Tanauan I Central School Batch '83

The pupils of Tanauan I Central School who graduated in 1983 were once again reunited after 25 years since they stepped out of their Alma Mater. The reunion was held on May 11, 2008 at the Bahia Beach Resort in Sto. Nino, Tanauan, Leyte, the place was perfect for the occasion as the guests were welcomed by the breathtaking view of the beach complemented by the tranquility of the sea which was truly was amazing. The big financial contribution of Rolando Cinco, a.k.a. BANKER, a bachelor bank officer based in Manila and will soon be assigned in Dubai, which amount was given ahead of time and was sent through the bank account of Josephine Mendiola, greatly afforded to fill the large banquet table with mouth-watering and satiable foods prepared by the vivacious and sexy chef, Salome Tecson and assisted by the active interim-ad hoc- ‘Class President’- whatever you call it - Albeth Moron, she and Josephine. Class ’83 was composed of four sections, and knowing each other’s full name seemed unexpected. So instead of having the usual self-introduction, a game was played wherein the person who correctly gave the correct full names of all those who were there receives a price. After three failed attempts by Edna Cornejo, Nancy Almaden and Arlene Custodio, it was Rolando Cinco who gave the correct names. The musical faculties and powerful voices of the Top 10 Pinoy Idol, or even World Idol, wannabes – Carmen Sabalza, Armi Almaden, Emeterio Evangelista, Vitalico Avila, Luisito Pelino, Babylyn Perez, Mirasol Mendiola, Angelo Palana, and Ma. Antonia Amparo- melodiously serenaded everyone. Had Simon Cowell, one of the judges of American Idol who is famous for his satirical and insulting comments, been there and heard them sing, most probably, he had brushed off the negative comments he is famous for. Salome Tecson’s ala Mystica rendition of “Labi sa Labi” was something to beat. Every sexy and romantic lyrics of the song synchronized with the sexy sway of her body. Winefredo Udtohan , on the other hand, chose heart warming songs that made us either fell in love again or be reminded of our unpaid debts - on my part, I chose the latter! LOL (laughing out loud). Some of our former classmates are still as coy and timid as they were when we were in our elementary days and it includes Nancy Almaden, Ma. Benita Amparo, Consolacion Co, Marissa Mendiola, Jerome Avila, Francisco Fabre, Donald Yaranon, Dean Perez, Francisco Baguisa, and Zandro Morabe. Seeing with my former classmates, whom I haven’t seen in decade or more, and being with them once again, was a recollection of the days when I was still a very petite being in the first row always and was the first to be called by the teacher when the ranking was according to height, fragile – malnourished looking to a certain extent, immature – excusable for being, ehemm, a year younger than my classmates, and timid grade school girl of Tanauan I Central School. Everyone was caught into surprise to see Dennis Roa, now a teacher and aspiring to be a lawyer, who is based in Butuan City, for the 360-degree turn of his life, from being the most malabad (there is no other word to best describe him) to being the most behaved. (Sorry Dennis buking ka yana . . . hehehe ) He was once most famous for being irascible, naughty and mischievous albeit his very small body frame. If I’m not mistaken, his best buddy then was Dean Perez, who was his exact opposite when talking about how they behaved in school. If I remember right too, he and Lyn Morantte were like cat and mouse fighting each other most often, oppsssss. . . . . I remember now, it was Dennis who quarreled Lyn. . . . It was ironic that Dennis was the smallest in the class yet he was the fiercest of all. I don’t exactly understand where he got all those mighty powers to dwarf everyone’s superior heights, coward the male spirits and triumph duel against troublesome kids in town. . . Fast forward to present . . . in fairness to him, he is a changed man, a gentleman to be precise, a non-smoker and non-drinker, a good family man and a good educator, I’m sure he has extra ordinary ability to discipline troublesome kids in his own classroom as his own experience was his best teacher. Even at around 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon, the mood was still lively and two latecomers arrived – Atty. Edgar Octa and Grace Ilustre who both had previous commitments. I was one of the first persons to go home at around 7:00 o’clock in the evening and I don’t have any idea what time they wrapped up. The day spent with my former classmates was totally wonderful and I can’t wait to see them again next year. For those who failed to make it this year, see next year. . . . .
